2006 Nutrient Reference Values for Australia and New Zealand - A Review of Nutrient Reference Values for Fluoride, Iodine and Sodium - Online Consultation

Closed 11 Dec 2015

Opened 30 Oct 2015

The Department of Health in collaboration with the New Zealand Ministry of Health are undertaking a review of three nutrient reference values (fluoride, iodine and sodium) from the 2006 Nutrient Reference Values for Australia and New Zealand.
Nutrient Reference Values (NRVs) are a set of recommendations for nutritional intake based on currently available scientific knowledge, and set according to age, sex and life stages.  Further information on the 2006 Nutrient Reference Values for Australia and New Zealand is available from the Nutrient Reference Values Website for Australia and New Zealand at https://www.nrv.gov.au
A methodological framework has been developed to guide the reviews of the NRVs. The application of the Framework is being tested by reviewing only some of the reference values for these three nutrients. A full review of all reference values for these nutrients will be considered in the future. A copy of the framework is available to download via the links below or from the website www.nrv.gov.au.
As part of this process, the Department of Health is seeking comment on the reports, their recommendations and the application of the methodological framework in the three draft nutrient review reports.
The reports and associated supporting documents are available to download under the related documents section below.
The reports have not been approved by the National Health and Medical Research Council and approval if granted will apply to the final draft that is submitted for consideration following any amendments made after public consultation.
How to make a submission
Interested parties are invited to comment on the reports via the Consultation Survey tab below. The draft reports and associated supporting documents are also available to download via the links in each relevant Survey tab.
Please note participants are able to select which reports they provide comment on.
Some supporting information included in this consultation may not be accessible.
If you are having any difficulties, please contact the Project Officer via email at NRVConsultation@health.gov.au to make alternative arrangements.
Email submissions will be accepted only with agreement from the Project Officer. Tracked changes on the draft review reports will not be considered.
