MPSP Direct Care Targets Trial - Stage 1 Reporting

Overview

The Direct Care Targets Trial is being undertaken to better understand how direct care is delivered across Multi-Purpose Service (MPS) settings and to test a practical approach to reporting direct care and Registered Nurse (RN) care targets in mixed health and aged care environments.

The information collected will help the Department understand how the reporting approach is working in practice and inform the evaluation of the trial and future policy considerations.

Participation in the trial is intended to be straightforward and proportionate, with responses based on information reasonably available through normal business operations. Services are not expected to introduce new systems or create additional documentation.

The trial is designed to support shared learning and evidence-building, not compliance or enforcement activities.

Trial information is collected through this Direct Care Targets Trial – reporting template. Stage 1 reporting activity covers the period 1 October 2026 to 31 December 2026. Reporting templates for each MPS are to be submitted between 1 January 2027 and 19 February 2027.
