The First Nations Home Care Provider Forum brings together home care providers, First Nations community representatives, government agencies and sector leaders to explore what culturally safe aged care looks like in practice.

The forum provides an opportunity to listen, share experiences and strengthen connections between providers and First Nations communities. Through presentations, panel discussions, yarning circles and networking activities, participants will identify practical actions to improve communication, engagement and service delivery, while supporting stronger collaboration across aged care, health and community services.

Topics include culturally safe aged care practices, building meaningful relationships with local First Nations organisations, and understanding opportunities to better meet the needs of First Nations older people through home care services.

Participants will hear from First Nations leaders and representatives from the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, and will be encouraged to reflect on practical actions their organisations can take following the forum.

Forum objectives:

Build stronger relationships with First Nations communities and organisations.
Identify practical improvements to communication, engagement and service delivery.
Strengthen collaboration across aged care, health and community services.
Share learnings and support ongoing sector engagement.

The forum aims to support providers to deliver respectful, culturally safe and person-centred home care services for First Nations peoples, while fostering ongoing partnerships and continuous improvement across the aged care sector.
