The concept of the My Health Record is fantastic. In reality from a consumer perspective I have found it frustrating. My story: I recently fell and sustained a nasty concussion. I went to my GP who ordered and ECG, bloods and x-rays. To get my information loaded up onto the My Health Record Portal was onerous (not automated) I had to send a written request to the GP Practice to upload my consultation - when I did it did not show the consultation just that I had had an appointment there. When getting my bloods and ECG from the provider located within the practice I was told that the results were not loaded up to MY Health Record I had to fill out paper work to get the results in. The same for the Xray except this seemed even harder. I consent for information to be loaded up yet it is not automatic and I would like to see all medical companies mandated by law to upload my information into My Health Record. I have a right to see my results and have this information shared amongst providers both public and private. In the end all I have in the Record is a notation of my visit to the GP, No x-ray results, no ecg results no blood results.
