Draft Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Genomics Health Guiding Principles and Summary

Closes 27 Oct 2021

Consultation of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Genomics Health Guiding Principles

The Department of Health is seeking input on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Genomics Health Guiding Principles. The Guiding Principles are aimed at supporting policymakers, researchers, clinicians, ethics committees and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, to deliver culturally safe and accessible clinical genomics services and genomics research activities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The consultation will involve engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and individuals to ensure that the document represents the diversity of cultures, needs and perspectives from across the country.

The consultation will also involve engaging with genomic health service providers, policy makers and researchers, with a focus on ensuring that the guiding document is understandable and can be implemented.
