Please describe any other barriers and include supporting information (max 300 words)
Nurse Practitioners are able to autonomously practice as advanced practice clinicians mostly in the public sector. PBS, MBS and collaborative arrangements means NP's are extremely limited on what care they can provide with no reasoning behind those decisions. Ultimately, this means patients are being denied care.
What can be done to remove or mitigate the barriers? (max 300 words)
-You need to allow NPs the same access to PBS, RPBS and MBS as GPs
-You need to provide separate hospital/health service funding to employ NP's to fill the gap in healthcare
-You need to dissolve the collaborative arrangements and allow NPs to work to their full scope - the NP role is collaborative by nature and does not require limitation where GP's and other medical officers do not

If selected Yes, what are they and how could this be achieved?
-Rural and remote centres have enormous potential to fill gaps in healthcare with the NP role
-The public health sector can also benefit from NP employment as seen the US, UK and NZ
-There needs to be funding allocated specifically for NP employment and support for the ACNP to facilitate this

What are some innovative ways to promote the nurse practitioner workforce in:
Regional, rural and remote areas (max 300 words)
Allow there to resources spent into localised NP steering groups and the formation of differing models of care for the NP. Every regional rural and remote area is different, so you need specialised groups to come together to create the position and the funding to allow it to continue
Metropolitan areas (max 300 words)
-Again, allow there to resources spent into localised NP steering groups and the formation of differing models of care for the NP
-There need to be the same amount of focus spent into NP's as there are for medical officer employment
-The OCNMO may be a good place to put the resources and funding for it then be steered and directed to public health services

What strategies can be used to increase the number of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander nurse practitioners?
Please provide details in the box below (max 300 words)
Like anything, if the effort is placed into funding NP's in the first place, then you can consider how to engage ATSI RN's to begin study
NPs and NP students fight tooth and nail to convince health services that their employment is worth it. There is a staggering amount of NPs who are endorsed but are not employed as NPs due to a lack of funding

What strategies can be used to improve the cultural safety of nurse practitioners?
Please provide details in the box below (max 300 words)
Build it into NP Masters programs
Ensure it is mandatory for NP's to complete cultural safety programs before employment in any sector

There is very little incentive given the restrictions placed on NP practice (including the requirement of GPs or specialists to be present in order for a NP to provide care) - this needs to be addressed and autonomy must be given to NPs

NPs are too strictly regulated and not allowed to practice to their full scope
I believe regulation is important for safety, although you must make parallels to medical officers and provide similar models of regulation
I believe regulation in the form of the ACNP and AHPRA working in collaboration may be a good step moving forward

As a future NP, I am worried I will not be able to practice to my full scope and will be extremely limited.
I want to know that I can order any diagnostic tests and prescribe medicines without hestitation and without my patients being out of pocket just because I'm an NP. This comes with a review of the current collaborative agreements, PBS, MBS regulations and with key NP stakeholders being the key drivers in consultation
I would love to have job security and safety and believe there should be specific funding dedicated to the employment of NPs and support for NP students
