Residential Care Service List

Closes 20 Jan 2025

Opened 3 Dec 2024

Overview

The Department of Health and Aged Care is consulting on the proposed Residential Care Service List. This list explains what care and services aged care homes must provide to all permanent residents and residential respite recipients. It will replace the current Schedule 1 of the Quality of Care Principles 2014 – the Schedule of Specified Care and Services, under the new Aged Care Act.

The department has also received feedback from the recent consultation on the broader Aged Care Service List. This consultation is designed to gain more specific feedback on residential care items.

The Residential Care Service List is part of the Aged Care Rules, under the new Aged Care Act.

Why your views matter

We want to know how the aged care and health sectors interact with the current Schedule. We also want to better understand barriers to normal use for both consumers and providers. We want to hear from health and aged care organisations, but we welcome anyone who wants to contribute.

This consultation will help us create a service list that makes it easier for aged care homes to understand their care and services obligations under the new Aged Care Act.
