15. What features of the existing assessment and monitoring process should be retained?

Retain assessment & monitoring processes
thoroughness of audit

16. What features of the existing assessment and monitoring process should be changed?

Change assessment & monitoring
Instead of appointments being made for accreditation staff to attend facilities it should be random knock on the door we are here to assess/audit.
When facilities are given a specific date for accreditation team to visit, facilities are presented as they should be for the purpose of accreditation rather than if you had unannounced visits for accreditation =true issues would be picked up.

26. Do you have any suggestions for how complaints handled by the Aged Care Complaints Commissioner could be better handled?

Note: this question is included for organisations and those individuals who have not made a complaint
there should be a process that skips management in facilities and allows staff to make complaints and/or raise concerns

Additional comments

27. Do you have anything else that you would like to contribute to the Review?

Additional comments
When are staff who work in aged care going to be given a decent pay rise that recognises and respects the work they do.

Personal Care Assistants should be paying registration like nurses so they can be struck of a register and not be allowed to work in the industry again

Why is there a mentality that we have to drag the older persons out of bed before breakfast, i have heard stories of staff showering dressing clients up to 6=7 clients in 1 hour-1 1/2 hours.
Where is the respect and dignity for our older human beings.
What is going to be done about the increase in older /younger people with dementia. Staff need correct training for managing difficult behaviors.
Why is aged care staffing and clients ignored. It is okay to have ideas in writing but whoever is responsible in the relevant departments really need to meet and talk to the people who do these jobs. Too Too sad
