Review and renewal of the Australian Sports Diplomacy Strategy

Closed 14 Sep 2018

Opened 2 Aug 2018

Overview

The Office for Sport co-administers the Australian Sports Diplomacy Strategy 2015-18 (the Strategy) with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).  The Strategy is due to expire at the end of 2018.

The Office for Sport is seeking submissions to inform the review and renewal of the Strategy.  As outlined in Sport 2030 (the Australian Government’s national sports plan), Australia’s sport and recreation industry is world leading and has the ability advance Australia’s global interests, diplomatic relations, economy, tourism, research and innovation sectors and our reputation for delivering sophisticated sporting events. The renewed Strategy is intended to guide the global engagement of government and the sports industry.

The Australian Government is seeking submissions from the sport industry, federal, state and local government, and the tourism, trade, education, recreation, technology and infrastructure sectors. Consultation feedback will assist in reviewing and renewing the Strategy.

The Australian Government would particularly value submissions that include information concerning organisational or participant engagement with the current Strategy and the suggested characteristics of a renewed Strategy.

Submissions may be published at the end of the consultation period, unless confidentiality has been specifically requested.

The consultation process will commence on 2 August 2018 and will include targeted workshops and written submissions. Submissions can be either uploaded though this Consultations Hub or via direct email to sports.diplomacy@health.gov.au.
