Medical Research Future Fund Reducing Health Inequities Mission - National Consultation on the Roadmap and Implementation Plan

Overview

The Reducing Health Inequities Mission is investing $150 million over 10 years from 2027-28 for research to address inequities in health outcomes. This funding will improve access to quality health services by priority populations.

The Mission supports health and medical research to improve the health outcomes of priority populations. These include First Nations or diverse communities, people who have a disability or people who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. The Mission will explore and target ways of reducing inequalities for people from priority populations.

The Reducing Health Inequities Mission Expert Advisory Panel was appointed in February 2026 to advise the Minister for Health, Disability and Ageing on the strategic priorities for research investment by developing a Roadmap and Implementation Plan for the Mission.

The Mission’s Roadmap is a high-level strategic document that includes the rationale, scope, goal, purpose, priorities for investment and funding principles for the Mission. To support the Roadmap, the Implementation Plan outlines the priorities for investment, enablers and, monitoring and evaluation measures.

Why your views matter

This consultation is to seek feedback from the community on the Mission’s draft Roadmap and Implementation Plan. Both documents are available below. A link to the recording of the 19 August 2026 consultation webinar is also available below.

Submissions will be used to inform any further development of the Roadmap and Implementation Plan by the Expert Advisory Panel.

We encourage stakeholders to complete the online survey, as it supports consistent capture of feedback across all consultation participants. However, we welcome any additional input organisations wish to provide through a written submission.

Written submissions can be sent to the MRFF Missions teams via email at MRFF.Missions@health.gov.au. There is no prescribed format for written submissions. Organisations may submit their feedback as either a Word document or PDF.

Please note late submissions cannot be accepted for this consultation.
