Aged Care Governance - Training and support via the Rural, Remote and First Nations Aged Care Service Development Assistance Panel (SDAP)

Overview

The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing are offering a free governance training and education session to rural and remote aged care providers, or First Nations aged care providers nationally via the department's SDAP program.

Existing aged care providers:

  • An appointed panel member will facilitate governance education sessions on:
    • the roles and responsibilities of a board and how to meet these
    • the requirements and expectations of an aged care provider
    • the resources required to deliver quality aged care service delivery. 
    • the current and new Aged Care Act.

Boards will be provided with links to information, supports, resources and templates that can improve daily operations and governance to support the delivery of home and residential aged care services.

Aged care organisations looking to expand their aged care services. 

  • consideration of your Board and governance requirements and requirements under the Aged Care Act
  • encourage possible partnerships that could progress service delivery to older Australians within communities with limited to no service provision.
  • considerations for a staged approach to expansion.
