Closed 17 Nov 2017

Opened 5 Oct 2017

Results expected 11 May 2018

The Australian Government engaged HealthConsult Pty Ltd to consult with the community and assist with the development of a Framework that will govern the secondary uses of My Health Record system data. Everyone was invited to participate in this consultation process.

The Framework to guide the Secondary Use of My Health Record system data has now been released. More information can be found at http://www.health.gov.au/internet/main/publishing.nsf/Content/eHealth-framework

Why we are consulting

By the end of 2018 all Australians will have a My Health Record created for them unless they choose not to have one. The use of My Health Record data for research, policy and planning purposes can improve the Australian health system by making it more efficient, effective and sustainable.

Public consultations on the development of the Framework occurred from 5 October to 17 November 2017.

There were a number of methods by which individuals could become involved in this consultation. The program of public consultations included:

  • a public consultation paper
  • a call for written submissions
  • an online survey
  • a national public webinar
  • a Consumers Health Forum led webinar
  • workshops and interviews conducted with stakeholders across each Australian state and territory.

A Consultation Summary Report was published on 11 May 2018, along with the final Framework.
