The Australian Government engaged HealthConsult Pty Ltd to consult with the community and assist with the development of a Framework that will govern the secondary uses of My Health Record system data. Everyone was invited to participate in this consultation process.

By the end of 2018 all Australians will have a My Health Record created for them unless they choose not to have one. The use of My Health Record data for research, policy and planning purposes can improve the Australian health system by making it more efficient, effective and sustainable.
Public consultations on the development of the Framework occurred from 5 October to 17 November 2017.
