General questions about the draft standards

Ticked Don't know

They need t be written in plain english for goodness sake. I am a doctor with 12 years of tertiary education and I cant wade through them and understand them, so how you expect an 85year old to make any sense of them is beyond me.

11. Are the organisation statements and requirements in the draft standards achievable for providers?

Ticked Don't know
Suggestions - are organisational statements and requirements achievable
They are all motherhood statements that fail to address the central issues in aged care - poor funding and inadequate staffing levels. I have seen the deteroration of standards over the last 25 years, as staffing levels have dropped. No matter how many pretty handbooks and diligent staff entering pointless inforamtion ticking boxes on computers there are things will not improve until you mandate hogher staffing levels.

12. Are the draft standards measurable?

Because there is no meaningful investigation into quality. Did you happen to see 4 corners? Was that organisation accredited? We have seen regulatory failure at all levels.

14. Is the wording and the intent of the draft standards clear?

Specific suggestions about each draft standard

16. Do you have any specific suggestions in relation to draft Standard 1: Consumer dignity, autonomy and choice? If so, what are they?

Text box Standard 1 Consumer dignity, autonomy and choice
Choice is meaningless. Dignity and auonomy are meaningless in most nursig homes. Have you ever been into a nursing home????

Other Comments

24. Do you have any other comments or suggestions about the draft standards?

Text box - any other comments or suggestions
I believe this is a process that has been designed to fail to provide any meaningful feedback, so that you can dutifully say you have consulted widely before doing whatever you want to do anyway.
