Specific suggestions about each draft standard

16. Do you have any specific suggestions in relation to draft Standard 1: Consumer dignity, autonomy and choice? If so, what are they?

Text box Standard 1 Consumer dignity, autonomy and choice
Clearer guidance and suggestions to providers would be considered important, in light of many differing scenarios where a consumer's lifestyle choice may clearly impact on their safety and that of staff. Whilst acknowledging consumer's right to choice, duty of care and dignity of risk in practical terms can create conflict for staff who are on the ground making decisions and being asked to provide care that conflicts in their eyes a safety issue.

17. Do you have any specific suggestions in relation to draft Standard 2: Ongoing assessment and planning with consumers? If so, what are they?

Text box suggestions in relation to draft Standard 2: Ongoing assessment and planning with consumers
I see potential area of conflict with communication should a consumer (and perfectly within their rights) to move to another provider chooses not to disclose or inform relevant information. Direction and guidance for providers to handle the new CDC choice and control that operational can cause issues.

18. Do you have any specific suggestions in relation to draft Standard 3: Delivering personal care and/or clinical care? If so, what are they?

Text box suggestions in relation to draft Standard 3: Delivering personal care and/or clinical care
Some consideration to end of life care, planning and decision making for people diagnosed with dementia. Dementia considered a terminal illness, and some clear education to consumers and their families to guide and indeed to direct best practice for those people who are concerned with caring for their loved ones living with dementia, need additional support.

20. Do you have any specific suggestions in relation to draft Standard 5: Service environment? If so, what are they?

Text box - specific suggestions in relation to draft Standard 5: Service environment
A service environment can also include an individual's home. Difficult to control a home of an individual in a lower socio-economic background should affordability of stable heating, outdoor areas cannot be controlled. A clause surrounding this possibility could provide all scenarios of a person's home.

Other Comments

24. Do you have any other comments or suggestions about the draft standards?

Text box - any other comments or suggestions
Education and communication to consumers in a timely manner is something I hear time and again. That they did not know or understand how this impacted me.
