Text box - specific suggestions in relation to draft Standard 5: Service environment
5.1 - 'Consumers experience a safe, clean secure, well-maintained and comfortable service environment contradicts' 5.3 'Consumers can move freely within the service environment, including both indoor and outdoor area. ' I understand the gist of both those statements, but if the doors to a special memory support unit ( dementia unit) are left open, to accommodate statement 5.3, chances are good that residents will wander into rooms of other residents, thus infringing on their safe and secure environment. So how does, one accommodate both these statements?

22. Do you have any specific suggestions in relation to draft Standard 7: Human resources? If so, what are they?

Text box suggestions in relation to draft Standard 7: Human resources
7.1 I feel that a ratio needs to be mandated of 1 carer to 6 residents for am shifts, and 1 carer to 5 residents for pm shifts. This should then ensure a sufficient workforce. 7.3 The workforce should be paid to attend training to enhance their skills. They need the training to ensure that their skills are kept up to date, but should be compensated for attending training.

23. Do you have any specific suggestions in relation to draft Standard 8: Organisational governance? If so, what are they?
