General questions about the draft standards

10. Do the consumer outcomes in the draft standards reflect the matters that are most important to consumers?

Please select one item
Ticked Yes, always
Yes, mostly

No
Don't know
Text box for suggestions about improving consumer outcomes
consumers like to have feedback about their care, importantly they like being respected, and spoken to in a respectful manner, if this can be made clear in the standards and particularly when the rights and responsibilities are re written the consumers would feel comfortable about these outcomes and of course if they need to complain.

11. Are the organisation statements and requirements in the draft standards achievable for providers?

No
Don't know
Suggestions - are organisational statements and requirements achievable
these statements are always achievable by organisations, it is how they are assessed and how often they are assessed that will bring organisations into being better able to achieve these statements.

12. Are the draft standards measurable?

Yes, sometimes
No
Don't know
Text box - suggestions are draft standards measurable
these standards can be measured by the quality teams who do the accreditation visits, I personable believe that the visits should not be announced as they will be here on this day of this month, the visits should be announced as the team will be here in this month, your self assessment should be done and in by the month before. Maybe a measuring tool could be when the standards are assessed there is an indication on where the organisation stands in the overall picture of aged care organisations.

13. Are there any gaps in the draft standards? If so, what are they?

Yes
Ticked No
Text Box for gaps in draft standards
I do believe that the standards need to written as clearly as possible so that they are understood by all. the way these standards are met needs to be very clear, so no organisation can miss understand the standard and their role in meeting that standard. I do feel that some organisations twist the standards to suite themselves when it comes to consumers rights.

14. Is the wording and the intent of the draft standards clear?

Specific suggestions about each draft standard

16. Do you have any specific suggestions in relation to draft Standard 1: Consumer dignity, autonomy and choice? If so, what are they?

Text box Standard 1 Consumer dignity, autonomy and choice
no suggestions; It will be interesting to see how standard 1 is assessed, how the organisation can show they give the consumer choice.

17. Do you have any specific suggestions in relation to draft Standard 2: Ongoing assessment and planning with consumers? If so, what are they?

Text box suggestions in relation to draft Standard 2: Ongoing assessment and planning with consumers
no suggestions.

18. Do you have any specific suggestions in relation to draft Standard 3: Delivering personal care and/or clinical care? If so, what are they?

Text box suggestions in relation to draft Standard 3: Delivering personal care and/or clinical care
this is one standard that I have seen the consumers choice is either not known (the workforce does not read the consumers care plan) or followed it is done to suite the workforce team of the day. This standard needs to be very clear for the workforce and the organisation.

19. Do you have any specific suggestions in relation to draft Standard 4: Delivering lifestyle services and supports? If so, what are they?

Text box suggestions in relation to draft Standard 4: Delivering lifestyle services and supports
this standard is worded well. The organisations need clear guidance as to what lifestyle services and supports means. again there needs to be proof that this standard is followed on assessment.

20. Do you have any specific suggestions in relation to draft Standard 5: Service environment? If so, what are they?

Text box - specific suggestions in relation to draft Standard 5: Service environment
good standard. questions need to be answered if doors are locked between areas, so organisations guidelines should be clear,

21. Do you have any specific suggestions in relation to draft Standard 6: Feedback and complaints? If so, what are they?

Text box suggestions in relation to draft Standard 6: Feedback and complaints
no suggestions.

22. Do you have any specific suggestions in relation to draft Standard 7: Human resources? If so, what are they?

Text box suggestions in relation to draft Standard 7: Human resources
this standard needs to reflect the requirements of number of workforce to the number of consumers, and the amount and type of training required for that workforce. as is known with the aging population and the ability to stay at home longer the training required by the workforce will need to be of a higher and consistent standard by the time the consumer enters residential care There should also be a component of face to face training of the workforce, and the documented evidence of this and of retraining workforce who have let thier standards slip.

23. Do you have any specific suggestions in relation to draft Standard 8: Organisational governance? If so, what are they?

Text box - suggestions in relation to draft Standard 8: Organisational governance
no suggestion provided that assessment is clear and transparent when assessing an organisations governance procedures.
