26. Do you have any suggestions for how complaints handled by the Aged Care Complaints Commissioner could be better handled?

Note: this question is included for organisations and those individuals who have not made a complaint
Do not just assume that a complainant is correct. The process is distressing for staff and families. There needs to be a verbal case conference before the commissioner goes down the track of requesting information and placing stress unnecessarily on the facility. They need to employ people who have had experience in the aged are sector not those who act and sound 17 years old

Additional comments

27. Do you have anything else that you would like to contribute to the Review?

Additional comments
The attitude of the Department and its officers is one of the main reason that staff are leaving aged care in droves and it is difficult to recruit and retain staff. The industry is over regulated and creates and promotes the building of a wall instead of cohesions and cooperation.
