15. What features of the existing assessment and monitoring process should be retained?

Retain assessment & monitoring processes
You should not tell aged care organisations when you are visiting. That is the only time nurse patient ratios are followed. Also it's the only time all patients are showered , clothed in clean clothes and are given enough food and drinks. It's also not enough just to give homes that don't comply with standards a slap on the wrist. That happens time after time after time. When are you going to really penalise them? Hit them where it hurts-financially. Or stop threatening to yank their accreditation and actually do it. No one takes you seriously because you don't do anything to the homes that have constant breaches, and then wonder why people die. It's time to harden up on aged care facilities and MAKE THEM FOLLOW THE RULES!! Not only when you show up but all the time because you might just pop in for a surprise check.

16. What features of the existing assessment and monitoring process should be changed?

Change assessment & monitoring
