Additional comments
The aged care system is very complex. It is most difficult for carers of people with dementia to work through the MAC system. The view of GPs is often disregarded even when the carer and client are in support of requests/referrals being put in by GPs. Support agencies struggle to provide what clients with dementia need when they are living at home and may often be recalcitrant in their behaviours. this puts a great deal of caring family members particularly when there is great geographical distance between offspring who are carers and elderly parents with dementia
