15. What features of the existing assessment and monitoring process should be retained?

Retain assessment & monitoring processes
The existing assessment and monitoring process served a role when first established. At that time, they identified areas for improvement. They continue to be able to identify areas for improvement but that is all.

16. What features of the existing assessment and monitoring process should be changed?

Change assessment & monitoring
The present system should not be centred on reviewing paperwork. What is on paper is not always what is happening. I have witnessed this personally. The process should be more person centred, talking to residents, their families and staff, away from Management.

There was no resolution of the complaint. The Aged Care Complaint Service kept us up to date, however, once again I feel there power to look deeply into our complaint at the Aged Care Facility was limited

Additional comments

27. Do you have anything else that you would like to contribute to the Review?

Additional comments
I recently wrote to the Minister for Ageing and expressed my concern that the regulatory bodies had no actual power to ensure the well being of the residents in Aged Care, especially in a dementia specific unit. I feel that our elderly population are at risk and are forgotten once they are in aged care.
